About

Aged 14 I found a book on Leonardo da Vinci and was amazed. My life had no direction at that point; Leonardo gave me direction and purpose in life. I wondered if I too could create awe like him. My life has been dedicated to that aim ever since. Decades of practice followed.

In my forties all my avenues of enquiry began to flourish. Crucially in this period I drew dancers in movement. This group with special needs were dynamic in their creativity. We were all ripe at the same time. I am extremely grateful to them and certain my drawings of their astounding dance were pivotal to my maturity as an artist. In my fifties I returned exclusively to painting in oil on canvas, convinced I had learned to translate my awe of the renaissance into the awe of my own experience.

My paintings and drawings are my most eloquent and deepest responses to being alive. They are my most profound consummation of love. They are the fullness of my heart speaking to the fullness of your heart. We are on intimate terms.

I have been a practicing artist for over fifty years. I work and live in Leicester, United Kingdom. I completed a Foundation Course at Stourbridge Art College 1974, BA in Fine Art at Cheltenham Art College 1975/8 and MA in Fine Art at Trent Polytechnic 1984/6
